Covenant Community Bible Experience, Begins September 25
We are going to participate in a denomination-wide activity called Covenant Community Bible Experience. It is an opportunity to read through the New Testament in 8 weeks—reading 5 days a week, around 12 pages a day. The average day’s reading will take about 30 minutes to complete. Everyone who chooses to participate will have the opportunity to purchase (for $5) a special presentation of the New Testament called The Books of the Bible. It is unique in that there are no chapter or verse numbers; no study notes or cross references; no red letters.
The reason for that is because none of those features are original to the Scriptures. Most were added centuries later to help us find things. But the Bible isn’t a reference book; first and foremost, it’s a story! The Books of the Bible features the complete text of the NIV (the most widely read and contemporary English translation of the Bible) and invites us to read the Scripture as a story—not broken up into sections with headings—but as a story, from start to finish, that will lead us, hopefully, into some great family discussions of God’s word!
